Kim Lemus, LICSW

A little about me:

I grew up in Compton, California, where early life experiences as a Brown Hispanic individual shaped my understanding of resilience, systemic barriers, and the importance of community. Navigating personal and social challenges required dedication, perseverance, and a deep commitment to growth—values that continue to guide my work today. I am now based in Washington State, where I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work and am officially licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) as of 2025. My lived experience, combined with professional training, allows me to approach therapy with cultural humility, compassion, and a strengths-based perspective.

My approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is personable, collaborative, and rooted in warmth and understanding. I believe that learning about your background and upbringing is essential, as our early experiences often shape how we navigate relationships, emotions, and challenges in adulthood. I incorporate psychoeducation to help you better understand your thoughts, behaviors, and emotional patterns, while also empowering you with practical tools for change. Drawing from person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), I work alongside you to identify existing coping skills, strengthen them, and develop new strategies that support growth, balance, and emotional well-being. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and capable of meaningful change.
